Mistura Fina Band

Mistura Fina was founded by percussionist Frank Ayala in 2000 and is currently co-led with saxophonist Alex Nekrasov. Based in Denver, the group regularly performs concerts at festivals, nightclubs, special events, and other venues. It’s critically acclaimed recording, A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That, is a representation of Mistura Fina’s various musical influences.

Mistura Fina, loosely translated from Portuguese, means “A Fine Mixture” and in the music of Mistura Fina, you will hear a fine mixture of South American musical styles.”  Ayala explains, “One of the great things about jazz today is musicians from around the world continue to elaborate their styles and traditions to create an always growing, never-ending musical form.”

Ayala and his musicians have dug deep to discover arrangements of traditional songs that fit into their unique latin-jazz format. Often, listeners will approach the band to let them know that a particular song has triggered a memory from their homeland or an arrangement has special meaning from their childhood or another time in their life.

“If we were to describe our music, there’s really one word that comes to mind: diversity,” says Ayala. “Every song we perform is linked to the passion of the traditions and cultures of people from around the world. Sometimes the passion is reflected when people dance to our music and other times it is seen in the tears of a listener created by a strong emotion of a beautiful melody.”

Pat Bianchi Trio

Two-time grammy nominated organist and winner of Downbeat Magazine’s 2016 rising star poll Pat Bianchi, has established himself as one of the principal organists on the scene today. His command of the instrument, harmonic prowess, rhythmic intensity and versatility are rivaled by few. His most recent release, A Higher Standard featuring Byron Landham and Craig Ebner, exemplifies Bianchi's superiority and finesse in the organ trio setting, bringing jazz standards to a completely 'higher' level. When Pat is not leading his own trio, he performs regularly with jazz guitar icon, Pat Martino. Bianchi also continues to perform with NEA Jazz Master and saxophone legend, Lou Donaldson.

Bianchi, who comes from a musically gifted family, began playing organ at the age of 7, after receiving a Farfisa Compact Duo organ as a Christmas gift. His grandfathers (Pat Bianchi – Saxophone and Richard Zona – Trumpet) along with his father (Nick Bianchi – Drums) all working musicians, provided a great deal of support and guidance early in his musical development. Recognizing Pat’s continuing affinity for music, his parents enrolled him in classical piano study. While still maintaining a strong interest in organ, he was playing his first professional gigs by the age of 11, eventually performing with dance bands around his hometown of Rochester, NY.

While still actively performing with both Pat Martino and Lou Donaldson, Bianchi not only continues to collaborate with many well known musicians. He also leads a number of different groups including his trio (which is featured on his latest release A Higher Standard), as well as a unique “duo” featuring drummer Sanah Kadoura. Also Bianchi continues to promote his all star organ group The Organic Collective.
